Help answer the question about Video Game Consoles

Why is there region-lock in video game consoles?
Is it to keep people to pirate games? If so, how would restricting import games from a console prevent this?

If this is true why did Nintendo not implement it in the Game Boy Advance Micro?

computer games sometimes come out later than the console versions which gives the developers a chance to improve on the game, for example gears of war for pc has extra stuff than the 360 version. also the pc versions might have some bugs, like the gears of war pc version has been reported to make ppls computers crash. other than that i dont think theres that much difference

Buy big tubs from the store…then place them in there neatly. but why would you want to store them? I would be playing on them 24/7.

Maybe for video games, but for game consoles i really doubt it. I mean then everyone would try building there consoles….which would be madness. If your interested in this sort of stuff as a career i know there are many colleges that offer a program for game developing and programming.

I don't imagine you'd make much money from fixing strictly video game consoles as you would void manufacturer's warranty by opening the box. You could get a job with the manufacturer (or contacted company) that will allow you to be certified to work on said systems.

However in order to learn how to repair broken systems, you would need to take many courses in basic and advanced electronics which will allow you to expand your capabilities well beyond repairing just consoles – that would be where you make money.

    Nintendo.

I'm not saying that because the Wii is my favorite console, or because it has the best games. I'm saying that because Nintendo has been around longer than Sony and MS combined and makes money on their consoles hand over fist while their competition is taking losses.

In fact Nintendo has the ONLY console this generation that is actually selling for more than what it costs to make. They're the only console that hasn't had to lower their sales price to move merchandise, and on top of that, in addition to the Wii's success, the Nintendo DS has done better than any handheld ever has (and has trounced it's only competitor, the PSP, which is a much more advanced piece of hardware).

Nintendo does not have the most powerful console on the market. They don't have the best online service (in fact, they probably have the worst of the three…). They don't have the most hardcore games on their system. They don't even really have the best games, period, on their system. And yet, they've still kicked Sony's and MS's collective butts this generation.

So when you ask "who is the better company", it has to go to Nintendo.
