New pins are not as good for scoring as older pins are. The bottoms of older pins are rounded, so a pin that rocks is more likely to fall.

I don't know about MIT, but as long as you mention the Boston area, there's always Berklee...I was a part time gigging musician for a few years(I'm an engineer)so I know how tough the music business is. I'd check out Berklee if you're serious(and can handle the winters here) -they have courses and certs in business and producing, and the school has a great rep in the industry-

Good Luck!

Geology has found evidence of historical shifts. There is no current evidence that says it will never again happen, so my guess is that it will happen again. The good new is that we survived all the ones that came before, and as the Earth ages, each should be less dramatic.
The Sun should grow larger in the next billion years. You and I got nothing to worry about here, because if we live that long, the technology should be good enough for us to relocate.
Solar storms should grow more quiet as time goes on.
Man-made global warming will simply mean the Earth will be adapted to take advantage of the greater warmth. We will cultivate Antarctica and keep going as a species.

Yes, this is a GREAT post, but gawd, those pins look all beat-up when the camera's up close. Or is the lighting affecting the pins' looks? You think someone would have shiny-new pins for a TV event.
And it sounds like the PBP man should be renamed "Screamin' Jay" Randolph. lol!

I think it could be a mental block like most experienced bowlers go through at one point in their lives. I was also good at picking up the 10 pin without any difficulty, but when I tore my rotator cuff and when bowling centers started using "bumpers", I just lost it.

I am able to pick the 10 pin up once more, and can even do it with my highest performance bowling ball with no problem, but rely on my Viz-A-Ball "Denny's" polyester PBA spare ball to do the trick.

My USBC coach told me to forget about the bumpers and how to fine tune my armswing after my injury so that I can tackle the corner pins again. It was just going "back to basics" by using my full swing and normal release straight down the 3rd arrow from the left side, which ensures my spare ball sliding (or rolling, depending on the lane conditions ) straight into the 10 pin. He said that visualization also works by blocking out the bumpers and focusing only on the lane surfaces. Good luck!
